Zena Gardner’s experience and informed research around materialism and overconsumption led the 12-year old to a very clear conclusion: overconsumption and materialism does not meet our emotional need to be happy, and in some cases can make us sick. In this enlightening talk, Zena shares some surprising and shocking facts, and ideas about what we can do to balance our wants, needs, and desires, to help both ourselves and others thrive. Zena Gardner is a 7th-grade student in New York City. An active leader in school, her community, and church, Zena’s experience and research around overconsumption has led her to share a powerful message around what students actually need to help themselves and others thrive.
