As the world gets more and more complex, purposeful leadership get ever more important. Prof. Dr. Timo Meynhardt proposes a model that focuses on societal value contribution, driven by a strong sense of purpose. Timo Meynhardt, born 1972 in Rudolstadt, is a German psychologist and business economist. He is the managing director of the Center for Leadership and Values in Society at the University of St. Gallen. From 2013 to 2015 he held the chair of management at the Leuphana University in Lüneburg. Since October 2015, Timo Meynhardt holds the Dr. Arend Oetker chair for business psychology and leadership at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management.

Meynhardt co-developed the Leipzig Leadership Model which aims to provide a purpose-oriented framework for leadership. It basically shifts the grounds by arguing that good leadership is primarily about a contribution towards the greater good. In his work, an organization’s societal wealth creation is captured conceptually and examined empirically as a contribution to the common good (public value). Meynhardt attempts to answer the question regarding public value of businesses, public authorities, and non-governmental organizations. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
