Caring for carers. How many times have we read or heard this statement used in reference to individual carer? This caring makes sense, but how is it accomplished, especially in view of the increasing complexity of patient illnesses? Looking after your own health can give you the energy and vitality you need for your role as carer. In this talk, Fiona Marcus shared more details on „Caring for Carers“. As the current President of Sarawak Association of Tourism Attraction, Vice President of Sarawak Tourism Federation and also the Head BIMP-EAGA Business Council Social Culture and Education cluster, she obtained vast experience in sales, marketing, events‘ planning & project management. Her entrepreneurial journey was forced to a sudden halt in July 2014, when her two-year-old son Royce was diagnosed with cancer. Royce’s care became her first priority, one that required her family to seek lengthy and expensive medical care overseas. Fiona sold both NailMeGood and Sarawak River Cruise to further fund his treatments. Currently, she is working on the Royce Cancer Foundation which is devoted to building awareness on children’s cancer. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
